Grassroots Safety Belt – Quick-release belt

$14.95

Our quick-release “Safety Belt” gives you an added layer of safety when riding and traveling in the backcountry.  It allows you to quickly release the belt and leash in the event of an avalanche or a really bad fall that results in a tangle or results in you hanging upside down helplessly by your leash.  Yes… this happens!  Just ask Grassroots founder Jeremy Jensen and he’ll tell you he ends up using this feature multiple times in a season. Your leash is the most dangerous part of powsurfing and this provides you with a fighting chance against it. It will also keep your pants up, and keep your leash from dragging on the ground and snagging rocks and trees as you ride.

Other leash options are available with our Quick-Release Safety Mechanism for an added layer of safety for those who travel and ride in avalanche terrain.

Description

Our quick-release “Safety Belt” does much more than just keep your pants up.  It gives you an attachment point for your leash that keeps it from ever dragging on the ground as well as an added layer of safety with it’s quick release ability.  In our many years of powsurfing experience we have taken and seen some nasty falls and we’ve experienced our fair share of avalanche activity. Our “Safety Belt” allows you to quickly release your leash in the event of an avalanche or a really bad fall where your body could become tangled in the leash. Over a decade of experience powsurfing has proven to us time and time again that the leash is the most dangerous thing about powsurfing and our crew has been using a quick release system for nearly a decade now because the threat is real. You could be strangled by the leash in an avalanche and potentially lose life and/or limbs by being wound up in a leash and having the powsurfer beat you repeatedly on your tumble thru the white room. We’ve found ourselves literally hanging by our leashes after bad falls when the board sticks deep into the snow and stops and the quick-release leash allows you to be able to get out of those situations and gives you a fighting chance at avoiding a bad time turned worse in an avalanche.  It has literally been a life saver for us more than a few times.
